Is free energy possible Tesla? – Gibbs Free Energy

The answer could be as near as it gets. Although Elon Musk, CEO and founder of Tesla, has been adamant that solar energy is not only possible, it’s an important part of what he envisions for the future of humanity. The most powerful power of this new energy source would be the power to travel between space and the Earth, making long distance travel possible. “Yes, solar power could take us to Mars,” he has said. “The solar system is huge. I don’t think it’s just a matter of finding a way to put a few pieces on the moon. It’s a fundamental thing that we can’t do in our present technologies.”

According to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, over half of the worlds’ land-based power plants are used to provide energy for domestic use – with less than one percent being used for generating electricity domestically. “Electricity generation is a very slow process compared to how fast the energy consumed is. I don’t think it matters if we build a tower that uses all the sunlight that hits it in a few hours – they get about one-fifth of the sun’s power for that amount.”

So where could we obtain it? According to Musk, humans could be colonizing Mars as early as 25 to 25,000 years into the future, if we ever wanted to do so. In order to survive in the harsh conditions we might have to settle down and get a farm up in Martian territory. “We could get the energy we need in a year from sunlight. It’s not really any better,” he says, before adding: “We can be the first ones to terraform Mars, that’d be a neat story!”
