“A lot of my work is a mixture of the two,” says director Adam Green. “I have to keep in mind the movie as a whole, or I have to decide I need to change something.”

A lot of his work, that is. Adam Green is not just a director. He also produces and stars in his own short film β€” another film that’s a blend of the two β€” and he’s the author of the 2015 book ‘Suspend Your Faith In America.

I caught up with the filmmaker at the Los Angeles Film Festival to discuss his work and his latest book, which was about the 2016 presidential election of 2016.

You wrote a book in 2015 called ‘Suspend Your Faith in America,’ about the 2016 presidential election, with your own experiences as an American voter. What’s changed from your experience as a filmmaker in 2015 to your current perspective on the presidential campaign?

The election of 2016 has been something that’s been on my mind for a while now. I have a certain perspective on what was going on in 2016, where my perspective on what was going on was based on my experiences in the 2012 presidential election. I saw the political game unfold a little bit differently than what I saw in 2012, with so many different actors involved. So I’ve sort of come to a place now where I am sort of in my own bubble, and maybe a little bit afraid.

I wrote in detail about the 2016 presidential election, but I wasn’t at all involved in the actual election but had seen all the different players that were involved in the 2016 election β€” all the major players. What I’m seeing through the lens of the 2016 presidential election is a sort of echo chamber of the same things that I saw in 2012. It’s like we’re all in one big echo chamber, it’s a group of echo chambers I’ve been into for years … The same questions that were asked in 2012, but now they’re being asked a little bit differently because the questions are so polarizing.

How has your perspective on people changing? Especially with the election cycle now is it
