It’s photography by people who live the things that they see, and live the life they live. To make great photographs, you need to be willing to follow your muse in ways that don’t involve a lot of money.
If you find a good photographer who’s willing to spend a fortune on studio gear and time to get you good shots, it’s time to move on. And in fact they already have for their own studios if you’re looking to do some DIY work.
How do I do it?
Step 1 – Start shooting
This sounds easy, but it can be difficult. First of all, you probably don’t have the studio space or equipment needed just yet. Secondly, the budget for a photography shoot can go on for literally hundreds of dollars, and you’ll always need somewhere for it to go.
I’m guilty of this first mistake. I used to shoot with my phone, and that meant I’d be out of town for weeks at a time, without a chance to get my gear together. I also had tons of equipment lying around at this time.
With that in mind I started my own photography studio and decided that I would only shoot photos for myself, and not to make a profit. So that meant I needed to save money, start small, and make it count.
Here’s what I did.
Step 2 – Find a subject, and a time
It might seem pointless, but when you’re starting out there’s no point in shooting your first images.
This is because you have no idea how long it will take or where the people you want to shoot will be.
That’s why I always started out with more than one subject. I’d be in the studio at 7 am, and shoot at 7.30 pm, and so on. These photos would be my reference of when I should do something else.
Step 3 – Start shooting
The next part is the most important.
When deciding which photographs to use to sell on Etsy, make sure this person has the time, resources, and equipment to do it well.
A good photographer always shoots at the same time each day and time of day. If there’s a time they don’t shoot then the rest of the day gets a whole lot less creative.
When the photography begins you can take as many pictures as you can for days or weeks. When you start getting pictures to sell, make them as long as you
